When The Consumerist heard that there were shirts at Wal-Mart with a design that was an exact replica of a Nazi symbol, they started 'Wal-Mart Nazi T-Shirt Watch' and we're not on week 62. The design itself is certainly appalling, but the consumerist has a point: why can't Wal-Mart seem to get rid of these things? What else can't they get rid of? Here's the article:
Walmart Nazi Tshirt Watch: Week 62
When you thought all of the Walmart tshirts bearing the exact replica of an infamous Nazi symbol were recalled, or sold to a discount store and burned, a Walmart in Palmdale, California has them on sale for $3.00 a pop. 62 weeks after Walmart pledged to remove the shirts from its shelves, and 50 weeks after getting a letter from Congress demanding the shirts removal, they're still out there. If they can't get rid of a simple tshirt, how good are they at recalling toys, defective merchandise, and dangerous food?

Nice logical fallacy at the end of this disturbingly badly written article. It's in line with the rest of this site.

The question isn't weather Walmart can pull all the offensive items off the shelves, it's who created the demand for the item. There are neo-nazi groups in America that wanted this t-shirt in the first place, and at $3.00 a pop, Walmart just wanted to get rid of the few they had left. If Walmart has Chinese items left on the shelves, it's becuase they are swamped with recall products. The problem is still first and foremost, China is polluting our children deliberately. This is a terrorist act that needs to be dealt with by the US government. Except they are in bed with China and wont stop them due to the huge proffits involved. Every time we ( Americans ) but an item from China, We're helping them poison our children. If we're going to stop them, we need to stop buying from them. Stop being so cheap and buy American.

Garet: What logical fallacy? Recalled items still on Wal-Mart shelves raises questions about how seriously the company is taking its recalls. Also, talk about poor writing, "disturbingly badly written."
Doug: Not everything relates to China...and your claim that China is sending the US dangerous materials is unsupported and rather absurd. This story is about Wal-Mart and its inability to deal with removing offensive products its shelves.

If the author of this article can find a particular shirt at a Walmart in California, he shouldn't have to speculate about Walmart's ability to recall dangerous toys... he should be able to tell us definitively whether these toys can still be found on Walmart's shelves as he did with the shirts. The shirts may still be there, but that doesn't mean the lead painted toys are. I think this is the logical fallacy that was previously mentioned. The only proof that Walmart is leaving recalled toys on the shelves is to check for them on the shelves, just as the author did with the shirts.
I agree that the connection made in this article between the shirts and recalled toys is weak.

China is absolutely guilty of terrorism here. They know we have a ban on lead. We have since 1978. Do you know what they're using the proffits from us on? Nuclear weapons! What are you going to tell your retarted children when China nukes someone? You were too concerned with Walmart ! !

Doug, China's biggest trading partner is the US. China relies heavily on the US to buy its goods. China buys our curency, and lends us the money to support our consumer based economy. China's 7th largest trading partner is Wal-Mart, which sells most of its goods in the US. What good would it do for China to 'terrorize' us by sending us poisoned stuff that they know is going to be pulled off the shelves and make them look bad, thus reducing their long term economic strength.
Also, using the word terrorism is loaded and incorrect. Terrorism is using violence to make people afriad of going about their daily lives. Under your scenario, China wouldn't want us to know what they were doing, the goal, as you see it isn't to make us afriad (because then we'd just stop buying chinese goods) but for us never to know and to have a generation of children who are brain damaged. No, what you are talking about is a covert attack on America through our consumer products. It sounds like a conspiracy theory if I've ever heard one.
