From the El Paso Times
The Paso del Norte Civil Rights Project, a civil rights group in El Paso, Texas has just launched a lawsuit against Wal-Mart for violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to the Paso del Norte Civil Rights Project, Wal-Mart stores:
"lack safe and accessible pathways for people with disabilities" from the bus stops and parking lots to the stores.
As a result:
"Inaccessible businesses [like Wal-Mart] are sending the message that people with disabilities and their business are not welcome."
Wal-Mart just can't catch a break! This is yet another lawsuit against Wal-Mart, of which there are dozens
alleging violation of everything from civil rights to labor laws. We hope that Wal-Mart is brought to justice and the Paso del Norte Civil Rights Project and every organization with a legitimate grievance against Wal-Mart win their cases.

I am a long-term Home Office associate with Walmart and have recently begun talks and discussion with my local store managers/district managers/regional managers and market managers about the possibility of suing this website for at least a few dozen blatant lies/misprints/misrepresentations/false statements/false facts/grandstanding while not knowing the facts. These are just a few of the issues being thrown about. So I find this very interesting that you are boasting about lawsuits against walmart when you will very likely be dealing with one hell of a lawsuit in the near to mid future. I can't say exactly when this will happen, obviously, or if it even will but I assure you that it is being thrown around in the offices here in Bentonville. And rest assured we check this website every day for inaccuracies and we log them so that when/if the upper ups decide to go through with a lawsuit we will have all of the info on file!
One last thing. I know that many who read this will not believe this is legit but I am intentionally writing this letter in an average manner so as not to draw attention from my employer and give away my identity for obvious reason. Just rest assured that wakeupwalmart.com and it's creators the United Food and Commercial Workers Union day is coming soon.

Hey flyonthewall, Go get 'em. I think Walmart accomodates the disabled above and beyond the call. And as for other discrepencies and inacuracies, there are many that this site is responsible for. My personal belief is that China is the root of all our troubles. As long as we buy items "made in China" we're telling the world that it's OK for them to poison our children, and weaken our economy.

flyonthewall,
What "blatant lies" are you talking about? Every post written on this blog is written in response to a legitimate article from a legitimate news source, like The El Paso Times (as evidenced above), an academic journal, or some other reputable source of information. In other words, we don't make stuff up. However, if you believe we've made any mistakes or typographical errors, please feel free to let us know.

Hey Doug! Just curious but do you realize that Wal-Mart -- that place that "accomodates the disabled above and beyond the call" -- gets 70% of their products from China? And Furthermore... what facts are you relying on to defend your idea that Wal-Mart accomodates the disabled? You are aware that El Paso is just the icing on the cake as far as unfair treatment of the disabled goes, not to mention the unfair treatment of the rest of their employees. Why would Wal-Mart treat the disabled with any respect when they can't even treat their female and regular employees correctly??

Flyonthewall,
I dare you to sue. In fact, I triple dog dare you to sue. Bring it on.
I'm glad that you and your fellow lower-management morons agree with each other that it is important to protect your paychecks.
The problem is, any lawyer...hell, any first-year law student, would tell you that you don't have a case. That's why WalMart insists on having its employees comment on all these blog posts instead of filing a lawsuit.
Your corporate lawyers know that even though you can sue for literally any reason whatsoever -- seriously, you can sue someone for farting near you -- the chances of it actually seeing the inside of a courtroom are slimmer than your chances of receiving retirement benefits from WalMart.
Not only that, but when you so flagrantly waste the court's time, the court has a tendency to award legal fees to the person you sued.
Now, here's the part where you're tempted to lie and say you DID talk to a lawyer and s/he said you're gonna win, blah, blah, blah. But if you really had a conversation with a lawyer, here's how it would go:
First, any lawyer worth his/her salt would warn you not to make threats. Under the right circumstances, threats are actionable, and at the very least damage your case and make you look like a dips--t.
(Kind of like you do now. It's a good thing you hid your identity!)
The next thing s/he would tell you is that most states have a shield protecting news sources, and citing to them on a blog is not actionable. Even if the article is proven to be an outright lie, if it derives from what is considered a legitimate news source, then you are protected. Period. Even if lower-management gets its panties in a bunch.
Then, s/he would tell you that opinions and interpretations (aka "spin") of facts are protected by the First Amendment.
Finally, s/he would hand you his/her bill. By the way, they make more an hour than you do per week, Mr. Lower-Management.
So, do you still want to make threats? No?
Then go back to your cubicle and be quiet so the adults can talk.
I hope the folks at wakeupwalmart are laughing at you as hard as I am.

Hahaha, I'm sure the WakeUpWalMart crew is laughing at Flyonthewall, ThaMothership. In addition to your comments being hilarious, and true, what makes this joker so smugly sure that WakeUpWalMart would look bad if Wal-Mart sued them.
I mean, could people possibly grasp a rationale behind a massive corporation suing a campaign critical of them...if anything I think WakeUpWalMart would use a law suit as fodder and it would simply make Wal-Mart look desperate.
Additionally, even IF WakeUpWalMart looked bad from such a law suit, Wal-Mart looks worse because it's been sued, I don't know, like, more than any other entity in the US, and not by someone with an interest in seeing the company shut down the way Wal-Mart has an interest in shutting down WakeUpWalMart.
No, I think Flyonthewall's comments are absurd all the way around. Thanks for the laugh ThaMothership.
