Walmart is looking to move in to North Adams, MA, and many of the residents there are not happy about it. They have formed a group called North Adams First. Here is the description of their group:
"North Adams First is an opportunity for community engagement around the opportunities and challenges that face North Adams, MA. It’s a hopeful time for our city with the election of Mayor-Elect Alcombright and it’s also a very challenging one. “Together we will succeed” means that we all need to participate by contributing ideas and by participating in the process of shaping our city’s future.
Civic duty does not stop at the voting booth. Attend meetings, talk to your elected officials, write letters to the editor. Be civil and be a part of the process.
The proposed Super WalMart is a significant project and as citizens, we need to be informed of the real impact and how it will contribute to our success or impede it. People can have their own opinion but it’s important that we are civil to each other as we become informed and contribute to the conversation."
They are asking interested folks in the area to come to the Planning Board meeting on Monday, January 11 at 6 pm at the North Adams City Hall to let the planning board know what you think of the proposed project. Don't forget to put in there that they are heavily funded by WUWM, and/or UFCW!!!!!! They just left that "small" part out.

Um, actually, itdoesntmatter, they are not funded by us. They are a grassroots organization. They are run by a few friends who live in North Adams and don't want to see a Walmart in their community. We are not providing them with any financial assistance.
Oh, and next time you make an accusation like that, you should be able to prove it. Can you prove it?

If I do enough digging I'm sure I can make the connection. It's funny how you go around to Walmart "potential" sites and they have all these signs up with grassroot "organizations" about the community but they seem to have that upside smiley face sign that you all use. Very interesting. But UFCW is slick and keep themselves on the down low. Only true people know what you are all about.
Taylor, I don't need to prove anything by the way. Accusations seem to be enough for you.

Actually, I believe Taylor (for once.) Something like North Adams First probably doesn't require a lot of funding, if any. It seems to be an all-volunteer organization and I'll bet the Web site design and development was also voluntary. Maintaining the Web site and attending city council meetings are the extent of NAF's activities, so they probably only spend money for the domain name and site server, which doesn't cost much.
There *is* some misleading going on here, though. Taylor portrays NAF as being anti-Walmart ( a grass-roots organization trying to keep Walmart out of their community.) NAF portrays itself as being more neutral and simply seeking more information about how Walmart will impact its community, without yet passing judgement. One of these organizations (NAF or WUWM) is misleading people about NAFs agenda.
Although WUWM probably isn't funding NAF, It's safe to say that WUWM is probably providing "moral" support to NAF to try to influence their opinions. Support comes in many ways. WUWM once responded to the Penn and Teller Walmart episode by saying "We ARE NOT just a puppet of the UFCW. The UFCW gives us a LITTLE money, but that's it!" Well... they also give WUWM office space, keep a fresh supply of liberal operatives coming in to keep WUWM running, and provide all sorts of moral support and advice. The UFCW is pulling WUWM's strings and WUWM is trying to pull NAF's strings.
Hey, Taylor! Why didn't you respond to my criticism of your false Zhu Zhu pets blog and your absurd claims about a "living wage." In fact, we haven't heard much about a "living wage" from WUWM lately. Why is that? You quickly respond in order to correct inaccurate claims against WUWM and the UFCW, but won't defend, apologize for, or even acknowledge your own inaccurate claims!?
