Did You Catch Undercover Boss?

Did you catch "Undercover Boss" after the Super Bowl? It's a new reality show on CBS where executives go undercover at their own companies and work entry level jobs to see what it's like. In the first episode, Waste Management's President and Chief Operating Officer Larry O'Donnell works several different jobs over a week and discovers how tough life can be for his employees. He also discovers how his policies have affected workers.

It's nice to see a show that uncovers these kinds of problems in the American workplace. Of course, most of us already know how tough work can be, but most of us don't have a reality show. That's why American Rights At Work started Fix Our Jobs which is pushing for real, systematic reform in our workplace, not just feel good TV moments. They're asking folks to sign a petition to congress: "America’s workers need a voice on the job so they can fight for fair pay, real benefits, reasonable hours, and better working conditions. We need to fix our labor laws now!"

They're also asking for stories about your job, good or bad. We're sure you all have some stories to share, so go check out the site. You can also watch a video they put together just to the right.

We also want to hear from Walmart workers. Tell us your stories from work. What would Mike Duke find if he came to work as a greeter at your store for a day or two? Would he make the cut as an overnight stocker?

Would Mike Duke ever take on this kind of undercover assignment? We don't think so, but if he did, we're sure he'd find some pretty disturbing stories, just like Larry O'Donnell did.

Mike Duke is a big wimp. He would never go on that show. It would expose the real truth about Walmart. The company is squeezing the blood and sweat of every employee and then discards them for fresh meat. The goons of Bentonville only see $$$$. Will they ever learn that by giving more you get twice as much in return.

Walmart employees need to form their own tea party and demand that the company share the wealth in the form of higher wages and improved benefits. The thugs of Bentonville want total and complete control over their work force. Can you say dictatorship?

As my family and I sat down to watch this show, Wal-Mart was the first thing that came to all of our minds. My mom has worked for the company for 17 years, my aunt for 22 years, my uncle for 19 years, one cousin for 7 years, and another for 3.

Mike Duke will most likely not go on this show because he doesn't want to lose money. Mr. Walton is probably turning in his grave if he knew how devious and money hungry the big bosses of his company are. Wal-Mart use to be about the family and a friendly customer service...not so much anymore. My family has been through so much with Wal-Mart and the changing policies, that it is unreal. But I'm grateful my mom and aunt stepped down before the wiped them out like they just did to hundreds of people.

"Undercover Boss" should be an eye-opener to Wal-Mart. Mike Duke may be a wimp, but he'll cry like a baby if he walked a few miles in his employees shoes.

I think the show looks cool but I am always confused when I see people talking about working for a company for around 20 years claiming it is unworkable- if it really was wouldn't you leave?

Anyway I stumbled across this site but assume its the same people that make commercials like "Would Jesus shop Wal-Mart"... how horrid. I like the comment at the bottom about removing posts too...seems you are no different than who you are judging.

They NEED to get the Wal-Mart CEO on this show! Threaten him with a lawsuit if he doesn't go! He HAS to see what's going on. He needs to see how some managers will make up lies so that they have an excuse to fire associates rather than lay them off. I'm not exaggerating! It happened to me.

If there are jobs in hell, then there is a company there that's run exactly like Wal-Mart. No offense, Sam. It's not your fault. I hope.
